Senior Data Scientist – Machine Learning & LLMs

About the role

Applaudo is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to design, build and evaluate advanced machine‑learning solutions for entity matching and semantic similarity. You will work with large, messy, multilingual datasets and drive the adoption of LLM‑based approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evaluate ML models for company/entity matching, including embedding and LLM‑based methods.
• Develop scoring, ranking and deduplication methodologies to separate true matches from duplicates and look‑alikes.
• Define benchmark datasets, baselines, metrics and error‑analysis processes.
• Design and run experiments, compare LLM‑assisted solutions with lower‑cost alternatives, and consider inference economics and scalability.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to engineering and business stakeholders and document experimental outcomes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional data‑science or machine‑learning experience.
• Strong analytical mindset, intellectual honesty and ability to communicate negative results.
• High autonomy, self‑direction and comfort working with ambiguous, large‑scale problems.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Required skills

• Python and SQL.
• Hands‑on experience with embeddings, semantic similarity and LLMs.
• Practical knowledge of NLP, classification, supervised and unsupervised learning.
• Experience with neural networks, transformer architectures, TensorFlow, PyTorch or PyCaret.
• Familiarity with Spark, Snowflake, Databricks or BigQuery.
