Senior Cloud Engineer - Azure Infrastructure

About the role

WWF's conservation teams depend on secure cloud infrastructure to protect wildlife and advance climate action. As Senior Cloud Engineer, you will manage mission-critical infrastructure that keeps WWF-US and its country offices across South America, Central America, Africa and Asia running. The position is based in Asunción, Paraguay.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build the Azure environment: create subscriptions, provision resources and deploy VMs (Windows, SQL, Red Hat, firewalls) in production and staging.
• Configure Microsoft Entra tenants, manage SSO through Azure Enterprise Apps and keep RBAC and user groups secure; patch systems proactively and automate tasks with PowerShell and the Graph API.
• Design backup strategies and disaster recovery playbooks.
• Troubleshoot networking across VNETs, sites and tenants, including firewalls, load balancers and DNS (Azure and Cloudflare).
• Lead projects end-to-end and keep stakeholders informed, and occasionally work after hours or on weekends for outages or maintenance.

Required profile

• Degree in IT or a related field and at least 8 years of work experience, including at least 6 in IT.
• Fluent verbal and written English and Spanish.
• Experience managing large-scale enterprise IT systems and highly available Azure production systems.
• Eligible candidates must be based in and authorized to work in Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Suriname or Guyana; no visa sponsorship.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, cloud networking, and Windows and Linux servers.
• Managing Windows domains and Active Directory.
• PowerShell and Graph API for automation and deployment orchestration.
• Fabric, Power BI, Azure Foundry, Microsoft Copilot for M365, Copilot Studio and Copilot Agents.
• Building and managing Azure VMs from inception, and DNS and VNET setup.
