Senior Automation Engineer (Playwright, TypeScript)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to design, implement, and scale end‑to‑end automated testing frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript. The role will focus on building robust CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and ensuring high quality for applications used by students and instructors.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and enhance the Playwright (TypeScript) automation framework for scalability, maintainability, and cross‑browser/device coverage.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable parallel execution and fast feedback.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to define test strategies throughout the SDLC.
• Perform manual regression, functional, integration, usability, and user acceptance testing.
• Increase test suite coverage across UI, API, and accessibility.
• Generate, analyze, and publish test reports to identify failures, flakiness, or performance issues.
• Integrate test insights into observability dashboards.
• Experiment with AI‑assisted automation tools such as self‑healing and intelligent test selection.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce automation best practices.
• Mentor team members and lead framework enhancements.
• Participate in cross‑functional design discussions to improve quality processes.
• Identify, report, and track software defects with development teams.
• Execute performance and load testing using K6.
• Maintain test data and environment configurations for automated testing.
• Investigate test failures, propose solutions, and evolve the automation framework.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent experience in software automation.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Playwright and TypeScript.
• Proven experience designing scalable automation frameworks.
• Solid understanding of modern HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines, especially GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as K6.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with development, operations, and QA teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
