Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js) – LATAM

About the role

Join Deel’s fast‑growing SaaS team as a Senior Backend Engineer focused on building robust, scalable services for our global payroll and HR platform. You’ll work remotely with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and ship high‑performance APIs that power millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Frontend Engineers, Product Teams, Designers, and QA professionals to create seamless experiences.
• Participate in product planning from discovery to deployment, influencing the full software development lifecycle.
• Develop and enhance new features and APIs, continuously improving our industry‑leading products.
• Identify and fix bugs quickly, maintaining high quality and reliability.
• Deliver a customer‑centric experience through attentive, quality‑focused engineering.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript and at least one additional server‑side language.
• Deep expertise with SQL and PostgreSQL, including query optimization and data modeling.
• Solid understanding of OOP principles and design patterns.
• Experience designing scalable systems that handle high transaction volumes.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a remote‑first, distributed team environment.
