Language Lead - Malagasy

About the role

Digital Divide Data is seeking a seasoned Language Lead for Malagasy to oversee linguistic quality and drive localization initiatives across legal, marketing, and technology content. The ideal candidate lives in Madagascar or has recent extensive experience there, ensuring cultural relevance and up‑to‑date language usage.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain Malagasy style guides, glossaries, and localization memory databases.
• Act as the final authority on linguistic quality, resolving disputes and providing feedback to vendors and freelancers.
• Conduct rigorous linguistic QA, LQA testing, and proofreading of user‑facing content such as app interfaces, marketing campaigns, and legal documents.
• Translate, transcreate, and post‑edit high‑priority content from English/French into Malagasy.
• Support external translators with queries, context, and onboarding.
• Collaborate with project managers, product teams, and marketing leads to align localization with launch timelines.

Required profile

• Native‑level proficiency in written and spoken Malagasy.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Communications, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of professional translation or localization experience.
