About the role
The HSEQ Coordinator will lead the development of a proactive health, safety, environment and quality culture across the site. Reporting to the HSSEQ Manager, the role ensures compliance with regulations, drives continuous improvement, and supports all operational areas to maintain a safe workplace for employees, customers and service providers.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, eliminate and control hazardous conditions using safety standards, best practices and analytical techniques.
- Develop, conduct and document training on local regulations, company policies and safe work procedures.
- Perform daily HSSEQ inspections, record findings and implement corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, facilitate return-to-normal operations and prepare investigation reports.
- Monitor and track HSSEQ incidents, non-conformities and actions through the Sphera system.
- Audit work permits, risk analyses and ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BASC standards.
- Maintain all HSSEQ documentation, prepare KPI reports and present findings to management.
- Coordinate drills, safety briefings and training exercises with Operations and other HSEQ team members.
Required profile
- Technical degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering or related engineering field.
- 7-10 years of occupational safety experience in multinational companies operating chemical plants handling flammable liquids or explosives.
- Certification and audit experience for ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BASC.
- Category A, B or C Safety Certificate and Category B driver’s licence.
- Intermediate English proficiency and advanced Office computer skills.
Required skills
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BASC standards.
- Integrated Management System (IMS) implementation.
- Use of Sphera incident-tracking software.
- Occupational safety standards (NFPA, NRs, Decree-Law 14390/92).
- Emergency management – fire, chemical spill, confined-space rescue, first aid.
- Training design and delivery (theoretical and practical).
- Hazard analysis, risk assessment and work-permit auditing.
