AI Engineer – Early Career Role in AI Center of Excellence

About the role

Join the AI Center of Excellence to help build the next generation of AI‑powered capabilities that improve customer experiences and streamline internal operations. You will work under senior engineers, prototyping, evaluating, and productionising AI components that integrate with our platforms and services. This position is ideal for an early‑career engineer who enjoys learning, shipping, and iterating quickly in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business partners to translate requirements into well‑scoped technical tasks for AI‑driven solutions.
• Build small prototypes and proofs‑of‑concept, document findings, and recommend next steps.
• Contribute features to AI applications and services (APIs, data pipelines, model/prompt components) while participating in code reviews and receiving mentorship.
• Implement tests, observability, and basic safeguards for reliability and responsible AI usage under senior guidance.
• Package and ship code through version‑control and release processes, following secure coding and change‑management practices.
• Stay current on AI/ML and generative‑AI developments and share learnings through notes, demos, or brown‑bag sessions.

Required profile

• Proficiency in Python and solid understanding of software‑engineering fundamentals such as data structures, testing, and debugging.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and JSON for integration work.
• Experience with Git (GitHub, Azure DevOps) for version control and collaboration.
• Exposure to large language models (LLMs) or generative‑AI concepts through coursework, projects, research, or internships.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical steps with guidance.
