GIS and Geospatial Data Specialist Consultant

About the role

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is seeking a GIS and Geospatial Data Specialist Consultant to support an AI‑powered satellite platform for climate risk and renewable energy mapping in Paraguay. The consultant will work full‑time on‑site in Asunción, delivering high‑resolution geospatial datasets and analytical tools that enable evidence‑based planning for the country’s energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, organize, and assess spatial datasets from government and other sources.
• Process and analyse satellite imagery to produce solar, wind, drought, flood and climate‑energy suitability maps.
• Develop and validate high‑resolution renewable energy and climate risk maps.
• Support the deployment of a prototype web‑based geospatial platform.
• Strengthen institutional and technical capacity for geospatial tools.
• Engage stakeholders for data validation and scale‑up planning.
• Generate evidence and documentation for future replication and investment.

Required profile

• University degree in GIS, geospatial science, environmental engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in GIS and geospatial data analysis, preferably in climate or energy projects.
• Familiarity with satellite‑derived datasets and remote‑sensing concepts.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with ability to work in a consultancy environment.
• Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is an advantage.
