Backend Engineer – Healthcare (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer specialized in healthcare to design, build, and maintain high‑performance server‑side systems that power critical medical applications. The role focuses on secure handling of patient data and seamless integration with major Electronic Health Record platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and scale HIPAA‑compliant backend services to protect patient data.
• Design and implement robust integrations with EHR platforms such as Epic and Cerner.
• Develop data pipelines and APIs using HL7 and FHIR standards for interoperability.
• Manage Protected Health Information (PHI) through advanced encryption and strict access controls.
• Build comprehensive audit‑logging and monitoring solutions to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with security teams to enforce technical safeguards across the stack.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on healthcare systems.
• Proven track record building HIPAA‑compliant solutions and handling PHI.
• Strong experience integrating with EHR platforms like Epic or Cerner.
• Proficiency with HL7 and FHIR interoperability standards.
• Solid background implementing audit logging and technical safeguards for medical data.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
