Java Specialist (Part-time, Remote)

About the role

The Java Specialist role is a part‑time, fully remote position focused on designing, developing, and maintaining Java‑based applications that support university systems and projects. You will work closely with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to turn requirements into scalable, secure solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented Java code.
• Design, implement, and test new features and microservices using Jakarta EE frameworks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Collaborate with architects and product owners to influence system architecture decisions.
• Optimize application performance, security, and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established development workflows.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in software development with practical Java experience.
• Proficiency in Jakarta EE and enterprise‑grade application frameworks.
• Experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
• Solid understanding of design patterns and their application.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, part‑time environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with university or public‑sector systems, cloud platforms, or DevOps practices is a plus.
