General Manager - Marketing and Ecommerce Growth

About the role

HoopStars, a Toronto‑based youth basketball business, is looking for a hands‑on General Manager whose core expertise lies in marketing, ecommerce and profitable growth. The role is fully remote from LATAM, working on Toronto hours, with the possibility of future relocation to the US or Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Own HoopStars’ business plan, budget, revenue, profitability and cash forecasts while leading sales and operations.
• Drive digital growth by improving paid search, social, creative assets, landing pages, enrollment funnels, pricing, offers, referrals and retention.
• Build and lead the parent company’s marketing team: define structure, recruit specialists, manage contractors or agencies, and set performance priorities across brands.
• Establish commercial discipline by linking campaign performance to paying customers, repeat enrollment and contribution profit, and allocate marketing spend based on reliable reporting and testing.
• Stay close to execution: inspect advertising accounts, diagnose funnel issues, launch improvements personally while developing a self‑sufficient team.

Required profile

• Proven track record building ecommerce businesses, leading growth for consumer brands, or managing digital‑acquisition‑focused operations.
• Demonstrated results in paid acquisition, conversion optimisation and customer retention.
• Experience with commercial responsibility beyond marketing budgets, including pricing, margins, staffing, forecasts and overall profitability.
• Strong professional English, remote leadership capability and experience hiring/managing marketers, creatives or agencies.
