Distinguished AI Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced AI technologist to join AVEVA’s AI Investigation and Incubation team. The role is hands‑on, leading the evaluation, prototyping and validation of emerging AI technologies to create practical, deployable solutions for industrial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate emerging AI technologies for practical applicability and deployability.
• Investigate, develop, fine‑tune, evaluate and benchmark AI/ML models.
• Design, build and iterate working prototypes, proofs‑of‑concept and pilots.
• Assess AI approaches for scalability, reliability, cost, security and operational feasibility.
• Document architectural decisions related to model deployment and integration.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to transition prototypes to later‑stage development or downstream products.
• Present findings and actionable recommendations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach junior team members.

Required profile

• 12+ years of AI/ML engineering experience, including at least 4 years in a technical lead role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale AI/ML incubations or deep‑tech initiatives with measurable outcomes.
• Experience in industrial, IoT, manufacturing, energy or asset‑intensive domains.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Deep learning frameworks such as Jax, TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• State‑of‑the‑art ML techniques for building, training, evaluating and deploying models.
• Modern AI paradigms including world models, foundation models, multi‑modal language models, agent‑based systems and context‑retrieval/augmentation techniques.
