Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) – Remote, Latin America

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a senior Software Architect to design and build high‑performance, low‑latency services on AWS. This remote position supports clients across the United States and Latin America, offering the chance to shape complex, multi‑tenant systems while collaborating with a fast‑growing consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Design low‑latency service architectures on AWS, including queues, caches, and search projections.
• Define explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and implement synchronous durable commits for hot paths.
• Architect audit and evidence systems such as append‑only event logs and deterministic historical replay.
• Create fail‑open, fail‑closed, and degraded‑state semantics and define outage postures.
• Develop secure multi‑tenant environments, evaluating RLS, schema‑per‑tenant, and database‑per‑tenant trade‑offs.
• Design and implement scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations.
• Build capacity models and cloud cost/performance projections using the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.
• Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs) and present decisions to client engineering and security reviews.
• Leverage AI coding assistants as part of daily development.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in an architecture‑focused role.
• Deep expertise in designing low‑latency, high‑throughput services on AWS.
• Proven experience with secure multi‑tenant designs and PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row‑Level Security.
• Strong background in building audit/evidence systems and handling deterministic replay.
• Ability to work across US business hours while collaborating remotely.
