Data Quality Specialist

About the role

Abstra is seeking a Data Quality Specialist to support a key data migration project. The role focuses on ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness across the SDLH system and the company’s Data Repository. The position is fully onsite in Asuncion and follows US Central Time working hours.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute source (SDLH silver to gold) and source‑to‑target (SDLH gold to Data Repository gold) validation processes.
• Develop and run SQL scripts to compare record counts, field‑level values, and aggregates between source and target datasets.
• Identify, document, and track data discrepancies, mapping errors, or transformation issues.
• Collaborate with data engineers to implement QA rules and validation checks using the Great Expectations framework.
• Define validation rules and acceptance criteria with the data team.
• Build reusable QA/reconciliation frameworks or test scripts for repeatable testing across migration phases.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) of converted reports.
• Document data quality findings, root causes, and remediation recommendations.

Required profile

• Familiarity with core financial system concepts.
• Advanced SQL proficiency, especially T‑SQL for SQL Server and Databricks SQL for lakehouse environments.
• Experience with data profiling and anomaly detection.
• Knowledge of data quality and validation frameworks such as Great Expectations.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and medallion architecture for data migration.
• Prior hands‑on experience in data migration QA, preferably within financial or accounting systems.
• Ability to work independently and deliver clear outcomes.
