CISO / VP Data Security – Remote Leadership Role

About the role

We are seeking a senior CISO / VP Data Security to lead the entire cybersecurity program for a fast‑growing fintech and cryptocurrency client. This 100% remote position offers full ownership of policy, regulatory readiness, vendor risk, and incident response, reporting directly to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with operations and engineering to embed security into product design from the outset.
• Provide strategic security guidance that shapes major business decisions.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulators during audits and ongoing compliance activities.
• Review, approve, and annually update cybersecurity policies, procedures, and supervisory controls.
• Identify and document asset vulnerabilities, threats, and audit critical security practices.
• Lead selection, implementation, and monitoring of security controls across communications, physical offices, encryption, and remote customer access.
• Oversee third‑party vendor risk and system dependencies.
• Report regularly to leadership on the health and status of the security program.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity with direct ownership of a security program.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field; master’s preferred.
• Extensive experience working with security, DevOps, and incident‑response teams.
• Proven track record in highly regulated environments and direct regulator interaction.
• Experience in consumer‑facing fintech or cryptocurrency products is a plus.
